Ann McKay

Ann McKay has been associated with the Society since childhood, having been fascinated by the pictures of the skull and sinuses in Ernest George White’s books being used by her father Dr Laurence West as he taught the method to his choirs.

On becoming a member, she sang at a number of recitals organized by the Society, where she met both White’s second wife and one of his daughters, and is thus the last link with our originator. She became a Registered Teacher in 1985, combining the Alexander Technique with White’s in her teaching, whilst performing in her local area. She succeeded her father as Director of Examinations (now called Education Officer), during which time she modified the examination process, and became a Trustee in 2001.
