Seamis Brennan MA, MEd Trustee and Research Officer

Seamus Brennan holds a Master’s degree in Choral Music Education and a Master’s degree in Psychology for Musicians, and has been a Registered Teacher of White’s Technique since 1995. In addition to training individual singing students he has used his links with primary and secondary education (he is a former Deputy Principal of a boys’ school in Ireland) to develop ways of teaching the basics of White’s Technique to children’s choirs.  More

Dorothy Douse Cert. in Ed Trustee and Secretary

Dorothy Douse has been a Registered Teacher of White’s Technique since 1978, having studied the Technique with Arthur Hewlett, himself a pupil of E.G. White’s. As a former primary school teacher Dorothy has considerable experience of using White’s Technique with children. She has served many roles for the Society, including supervising and examining students for their Registered Teacher examinations, and acting as Chairman. More

Jane Farrell BSc Trustee and Literary Officer

Jane Farrell had a career in publishing for many years. After training with and working in-house for Cambridge University Press, she then worked as a freelance language editor for all the major academic publishers. Jane studied White’s Technique with Better Voice Course Consultant Dr Peter Giles and has been using the method since 1997. She is a versatile semi-professional singer in both the classical and folk scenes, and an experienced choral and small-ensemble singer. More

Anthony M. Hewlett Trustee, Treasurer and Chairman

Anthony Hewlett qualified as an accountant after graduating with a degree in law, and his career has covered financial management rôles in a variety of industries. More

Josie Hughes

During Josie’s acting career she was a member of the Theatre Centre company, run by Brian Way. She performed at the famous Minack open air theatre in Penzance, and worked with the Shiva Theatre Company. She is also a singer/songwriter. She has sung at the Cornish Proms and recorded a CD of her songs. She is currently developing interactive music and poetry workshops for the elderly in care homes. More

Mo Palios BA Hons Marketing Manager

Mo is an experienced marketing consultant with a background in creative direction and management. She was a board member at one of Europe’s leading international advertising agencies, winning awards for creative work in TV, radio and print and developing strategic campaigns for major public sector bodies.  Earlier in her career she pioneered the art of commercial radio production with one of the UK’s first independent stations.  More 

Ann McKay Trustee

Ann McKay has been associated with the Society since childhood, having been fascinated by the pictures of the skull and sinuses in Ernest George White’s books being used by her father Dr Laurence West as he taught the method to his choirs. On becoming a member, she sang at a number of recitals organized by the Society, where she met both White’s second wife and one of his daughters, and is thus the last link with our  originator.  More
